Philip Barr M.D.

Philip Barr M.D. began his medical career growing up in the home of a country physician. Noting the minimal training in Nutrition in medical school, he was inspired to organize a nutrition class with a colleague for medical students. His colleague went on to publish a cornerstone text on Nutritional medicine which has been a valuable resource throughout his career. After a residency in Internal medicine and board certification, he collaborated in a Mind/body Fellowship with Herbert Benson at Harvard. Later this fellowship was renamed Integrative Medicine.

As a lifetime learner, Dr. Barr also earned a degree in spiritual psychology and served as a faculty member in a post-graduate program called Consciousness Health and Healing. His functional medicine training brought forward principles of psycho-neuroimmunology with mind and body influences further integrated his approach to self care. Listening with the backdrop of medical training and the heart of a healer he helps patients to bring to life their vision of optimal health. He is mindful of the practical steps it requires to realize their vision of what is possible. Crafting a healthful narrative is key and Dr. Barr’s heartfelt listening ability brings the patient's ideal scenes to life.

Informed by experience, training, and board certifications in both Integrative Medicine and Internal Medicine, Dr. Barr has worked in various clinical settings in the last 30 years. His approach is one of looking at root causes of dis-ease and observing what lifestyle changes would be beneficial. He is listening with the ear of his medical training and also with the heart of a healer working collaboratively with you to support reaching your optimal health. Informed by traditional and alternative therapies, he will weave a matrix with you to “bring it all together."
